Letter from the Executive Director

2022 December, Letter from the Executive Director, Newsletter

I hope your holiday season was filled with joy, peace, and warmth.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Live Tampa Bay. Our first year has been full of hosting community events to raise awareness of the overdose crisis – as well as the possibility of recovery, recording the heartbreaking rise of fentanyl fatalities, and launching various evidence-based programs and plans to reduce the number of lives lost to this epidemic.

We increased our anti-stigma outreach and recovery awareness efforts by 116%. Virtually, we engaged over 1200 individuals since June, and more than 520 individuals joined us in person at our Live Tampa Bay LIVE events across the Tampa Bay region. Finally, we increased the number of leaders and sectors we engage in fighting the opioid epidemic. In short, our team has skillfully executed the ambitious plans set forward for our coalition last December.

But there is more that must be done. I ask that you please join our Coalition Members in refining our strategic plan on January 20th from 9 – noon. This virtual planning session will be hosted by SPC’s Collaborative Labs and will help refine our goals for the coming years. Please also consider making an end-of-the-year donation to Live Tampa Bay, so we can meet our ambitious goal to reduce the number of overdose deaths by 50% in 5 years.

As we turn toward the New Year, I and our leadership are committed to redoubling our efforts to increase the impact of Live Tampa Bay even more in 2023. By this time next year, I want our efforts to correlate with a reduction in the number of lives lost. I ask each and every one of you to join us.

Here’s to 2023!

Jennifer Webb, Executive Director
