Dear Community,

As we move through August, I am encouraged by the momentum we continue to build together across the Tampa Bay region. Every month, I see firsthand how collaboration among healthcare providers, behavioral health professionals, educators, public safety agencies, community organizations, and individuals with lived experience is creating meaningful change in the lives of those we serve.

One encouraging example is the continued progress we’re seeing in reducing opioid overdoses throughout our region. While we are still far from pre-opioid epidemic levels, communities like Hillsborough County have experienced significant declines in overdoses, demonstrating what is possible when opioid settlement funds are used to amplify prevention efforts, increase the availability of treatment, build recovery support services, and foster deeper community. Yet, there is still much work ahead. Yet these outcomes remind us that now more than ever, properly funded collective action makes a difference.

This month, we also look ahead to new opportunities to learn, connect, and strengthen our community. Our August webinar will explore collegiate recovery models and highlight innovative approaches that help students succeed both academically and in their recovery journeys. As students return to campuses across Florida, these conversations are more important than ever.

Preparations are also underway for our Annual Recovery Night at the Rays. So, get your tickets today! Our goal is to fill the 500 seats in our section so that we can grow this event in years to come.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to building healthier, more recovery-supportive communities. Your dedication inspires our work every day, and we look forward to continuing this important journey with you.

Together, we are creating stronger systems of care, expanding opportunities for recovery, and building a healthier future for everyone we serve.

Yours in service,

Jennifer Webb
